OpenAd.net Membership entitles you to hold pitches. Holding a pitch is a great way to find the ideas and concepts you're looking for. OpenAd.net guarantees that a minimum of 20 ideas will be pitched to you.
As well as searching for ideas in our Gallery, you can ask our network of Creatives to develop ideas just for you.
How holding pitches for ideas works
You compose a brief include all your requirements, such as future licence prices for ideas. Then you set a deadline, invite Creatives from around the world to pitch and wait for the ideas to come in. And remember, because you set the brief, the ideas you receive will be entered specifically for you and your company.
Once the deadline has passed, you simply review all the ideas you received and choose which you prefer.
Key points
- The number of pitches you can hold depends on your membership package.
- If you want to hold more pitches, just upgrade your package. It's quick and easy simply contact Membership@openad.net.
- All ideas entered in response to a pitch are displayed in your own personal portfolio. Other Members do not have the opportunity to view or license these ideas for 30 days (after this time they are either returned to the Creative or placed, unbranded, in The Gallery).
- You choose whether or not you let Creatives know the brand they're pitching for.
- You can offer cash prizes for the best idea. (Any prize money paid is then removed from any subsequent licence fee payment.)
- You are not obliged to license any of the ideas that you receive in reply to a pitch. This includes ideas that you may have awarded with a prize.
- You can choose to set the future licence price for the ideas in the brief or not. If you do not, the Creative will. Both you and the Creative have the option of using our Standard pricing system to help you.
- Our worldwide network of Creatives provide between 20 and 100+ replies to pitches on OpenAd.net.
Important pricing notes for ideas in reply to pitches
When holding a pitch for ideas, you can set the licence price at which you would be buying any ideas that come in reply within the brief.
You can do so using the OpenAd Standard Pricing system, a unique system for calculating appropriate costs for licences based upon the size of your company, the power of your particular market, the type of idea you're purchasing and of course the duration of licence you need.
Alternatively, you can set your price for the licensing of the ideas that will come in reply to your pitch.
If you do not set the license price, the Creative will set the prices of their ideas, just as they do when entering ideas to the Gallery.
For more detailed information on our pricing systems, please take a look at the following section:

Managing Pitches
You can edit and review your pitches at My Pitches. But your pitches can be at different stages of the process and so your choices vary according to their status:
- Pitch in preparation At this stage, you haven't finished composing the brief. You may still edit (or delete) the pitch.
- Pitch in review When you submit your pitch it goes to OpenAd.net for review. You are only able to view the pitch during this time, so if you want to edit it you will need to contact pitch@openad.net. If OpenAd.net suggest any changes, the pitch will be returned to you for confirmation.
- Pitch in confirmation At this stage, you've submitted your pitch to OpenAd.net but it has come back to you for review. You can decide to edit your pitch in line with our advice or simply re-submit it.
- Published pitches Once OpenAd.net have confirmed your pitch it is published on the site. At this stage you can only view your pitch, and no more editing can take place. You can extend the deadline at any time by contacting pitch@openad.net.
- Closed pitches After the deadline has passed your pitch 'closes' automatically. Within 48 hours of this time, you'll be able to view all the ideas that have been submitted.
For the next stage of the process see Licensing Ideas Submitted to a Pitch for Ideas.
Licensing ideas submitted to a pitch
Once your pitch has closed, it's time to take a look at all the ideas that Creatives have supplied.
You can then choose to license one idea, more than one idea, or not to license any at all it's up to you.
Remember: all replies to your pitch are exclusively for your attention for 30 days. No other Members ever will see the contents of your personal portfolio, and none of the ideas in there can be viewed or licensed by anyone but you (even if you don't want to license them yourself) within this time.
How to license an idea
- Send an email to pitch@openad.net with the word 'Licence' in the subject line. (You will be assigned an Account Supervisor, who will guide you through the procedures and offer help.)
- Include the idea code and idea title in the body of the email.
- You should also specify the licence duration that you would prefer. You have a choice of either a 12-month licence or a perpetual license; as well as a licence for specified territories or a worldwide licence. (If you indicated the desired period in your brief, there is no need to repeat it here.)
- OpenAd.net will then send you a proforma invoice so payment can take place.
- Once we receive payment we will send you your Licence Agreement.
Alternatively, just contact your Account Supervisor directly who will be happy to help you with all your pitch and licensing requirements.
Awarding a prize for an idea
A good way of attracting a high number of replies to your pitches is to offer cash prizes for the best entry or entries:
- When you have selected a winner, send an email to pitch@openad.net with the word 'Winner' in the subject line.
- Again, please include the idea code and idea title in the body of the email.
- OpenAd.net will then send you a proforma invoice to complete payment.
- If you then choose to licence the prize-winning idea, the value of the prize will be deducted from the final licence fee that you pay.
Please note: if you do offer a cash prize, you are obliged to award it even if you don't want to license or use the winning idea. Any prize[s] must also be awarded within 14 days of the date the idea/s were entered into your personal portfolio.
