Licences

Two types of licence are available to a Member if they decide to license an author's idea:

a 12-month licence for the territory or territories specified by the Member, renewable upon negotiation with OpenAd.net and the author
a perpetual licence for worldwide use. Once an idea is licensed this way, the author renounces all material rights to it in perpetuity.

All ideas are sold exclusively and cannot be re-licensed by another buyer. This means that even if a buyer chooses not to extend a 12-month licence for an idea, that idea cannot subsequently be licensed by anyone else.

It is important that buyers realise that when they license an idea from OpenAd.net, they are licensing only the concept – that is, the author's presentation and combination of the elements of the idea – rather than the elements themselves. Those elements (photography, music, illustrations, layout, etc) must be licensed separately by the buyer from the author.
