How is the price for an idea set?

Sellers have two pricing options: they can set their own price, or they can use the OpenAd.net standard pricing system.

OpenAd.net standard prices are calculated according to four criteria:

  • the size and power of the market in which the idea will be used
  • the size of the buyer's revenue
  • the quantity and types of elements in the idea
  • the duration of the licence (12 months or in perpetuity).

Each of these variables is a multiplying factor for the price.

What happens if I set my own price?

If you choose to set your own price rather than using the OpenAd.net standard pricing system, the price you set is for worldwide use (anywhere/any market) and for any company, regardless of size or revenue. If your idea is then licensed to a buyer, it is licensed to that buyer in perpetuity.

Can I always set my own price?

The option of setting your own price is always open to you if you are submitting an idea to the Gallery.

If you are submitting an idea in response to a pitch, you may only set your own price if the pitch holder has not indicated the price at which he will buy any ideas submitted.

Can I change the price of my idea after I have submitted it?

No.

What is the 'price calculator' and how do I use it when submitting an idea?

The price calculator is a dynamic tool that helps you see what the price of your idea would be if you chose to use the OpenAd.net standard pricing system.

Is the price of an idea fixed or dynamic? Is OpenAd.net an auction site?

OpenAd.net is not an auction site. Prices are fixed and determined by authors or pitch holders during the idea submission and pitch submission processes.

When my idea is sold, how do I get paid?

If your idea is sold, you receive the full price for that idea as set by you, by the pitch holder (if the idea was submitted in response to a pitch) or by the OpenAd.net standard pricing system. The buyer pays OpenAd.net, who then transfer the total amount to the author's personal account (if the author is a freelancer) or company account (if the author is a company).

What happens to my idea after it is sold?

The buyer may negotiate with the author to develop or produce the idea, but is under no obligation to do so.
